Women's Herpetology Workshop

Join us for an exciting and hands-on Women in Herpetology Workshop, hosted by SCBA Foundation! This empowering event is designed to introduce women and girls to the fascinating world of herpetology – the study of reptiles and amphibians – with a special focus on snakes.

• Introduction to Herpetology: Learn about the importance of reptiles in ecosystems and the role herpetologists play in wildlife conservation.
• Snake Spotting Skills: Discover tips and tricks for finding snakes in their natural habitats, including understanding behavior and habitats.
• Snake Identification: Learn how to identify common snake species, distinguish between venomous and non-venomous snakes, and understand their ecological roles.
• Snake Handling Basics: Get expert guidance on handling snakes safely and respectfully, ensuring both your safety and the well-being of the animal.
• Live Animal Interaction: Meet live snakes up close! Participants will have the unique opportunity to touch and observe these amazing creatures under the supervision of experienced handlers.

Each participant will receive a Herping Starter Kit! This kit includes tools to help you embark on your own adventures in the wild, such as a field guide, snake hook, flashlight, and other essentials.

This workshop is open to women and girls of all ages who are curious about nature, wildlife, and reptiles. No prior experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and a sense of adventure!

• Cost: This event is free to attend, but tipping Sawgrass staff for helping is suggested, and donations to SCBA foundation are always appreciated.
