Meredith Barnes is a historian, living-history interpreter, reenactor, and storyteller with more than 40 years of experience bringing America’s past to life. Her journey began as a family tradition, participating in living history with her parents and family friends while exploring the American West in Arizona. She even worked as a tour guide in Tombstone.  Later, after moving to Washington State, she had the opportunity to share stories of the Oregon Trail, the fur trade, and the westward migration, with her high school students.

Meredith has a particular passion for interpreting the stories of women whose contributions have often been overlooked. She shares stories of women in time from the 1770s through 1940s, even specializing, for example, in stories like Annie Oakley, highlighting her accomplishments, independence, and lasting impact.

Through historical interpretation, reenactments, museum and community programs, Meredith strives to make history engaging, accessible, and personal—helping audiences understand not only what happened, but what it was like to live through it. Meredith is a member of Colonel Ogden’s 1st New Jersey. www.1nj.org
