Salad Days: A Decade of Punk in Washington, DC (2014) w/ Director Scott Crawdford

Director Scott Crawford will join us in the theater to introduce his special director’s cut of the vibrant music doc that chronicles the early punk scene in D.C. The special 10th-anniversary screening is part of a whole day of punk events presented alongside our friends from Siren Records & Stage United. The screening kicks off the day-long festivities including a pop-up shop and book signing at Siren Records, a photography exhibit at Native Cafe with legendary D.C. punk scene photographer Jim Saah, and a nighttime show at PUCK presented by Stage United. 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: This critically acclaimed 2014 documentary is a heartfelt exploration of the early DIY punk scene in the nation’s capital during the 1980s. A decade when seminal bands like Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Government Issue, Scream, Void, Faith, Rites of Spring, Marginal Man, Fugazi, and others released their own records and booked their own shows—without major-record-label constraints or mainstream-media scrutiny. SALAD DAYS is fast-paced and jam-packed with ebullient punk songs, magnetic concert footage and personal anecdotes from the fans and musicians who were on the scene–including interviews with Dave Grohl, Fred Armisen, Henry Rollins and more.
