Abdur-Razzaq will lead the audience on an engaging journey through the remarkable accomplishments of the pioneering women who profoundly shaped the jazz genre. Combining his virtuosity on the flute with his compelling spoken word artistry, he’ll illuminate the often-unsung contributions of these influential female musicians and vocalists.
With a background that includes studies at the Berklee College of Music and a Master’s Degree in Performing Arts and Education from Rutgers University, Galen Abdur-Razzaq is renowned for his encyclopedic knowledge of jazz history and the Civil Rights Movement. He has performed and lectured at colleges and universities nationwide for over 30 years, serving as an educator, arranger, composer, and director.
