About this Event
Roeshana Moore-Evans is a Boston native, social impact strategist, and community advocate whose career reflects an unwavering dedication to equity and social justice. A graduate of UMass Boston, where she earned both her bachelor’s degree and MBA, Roeshana combines her academic foundation and personal mission to transform institutions into forces for positive social change.
As the inaugural Executive Director of Harvard & the Legacy of Slavery Initiative, Roeshana spearheaded Harvard’s work to confront its historical ties to slavery, directing $2 million in grants to community organizations through a first-of-its-kind reparative funding program. Her leadership involved managing a $100M endowment, building coalitions with community stakeholders, and creating spaces for reflection and reconciliation on this crucial issue, fostering an inclusive and transparent approach to addressing systemic inequities.
At the Broad Institute, Roeshana’s roles included Senior Research Administrator, Onboarding Program Manager, and ultimately, Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff for Count Me In. She also founded and chaired Shades@Broad, an identity-based affinity group, dedicated to promoting anti-racism and racial justice as core institutional values while creating a supportive community for employees.
A longstanding advocate for public health, Roeshana is President-Elect and a ten-year board member of the Massachusetts Public Health Association, a policy-driven organization championing a healthier, more equitable Massachusetts. Through her involvement, she has contributed to initiatives advancing racial equity in health policy, supporting an intersectional approach to public health that addresses the root causes of health disparities.
Roeshana’s career began in accounting, but her path evolved as she pursued her passion for social impact and equity strategy. Today, she leads Equity Empowerment Consulting, where she partners with organizations to strengthen their social impact frameworks and build sustainable, equitable practices.
Roeshana’s journey demonstrates the power of aligning one’s career with purpose, making her an inspiring example for those seeking to create transformative social change within their professional lives.
