This Jumuʿah marks the beginning of our 1st Annual Founder’s Appreciation Weekend, October 2–4, honoring the life, legacy, and vision of our beloved founder, M. Hasna Maznavi.
Join the Women’s Mosque of America for Founder’s Day as we celebrate Hasna’s enduring legacy and welcome the return of our monthly women-led Jumuʿah. Together, we will honor the vision she began and carry forward her dream of creating spaces where Muslim women can lead, learn, worship, and flourish.

*PARKING INFORMATION*: A small parking lot is available at the corner of 8th Street and Westmoreland. Please note that double parking is not permitted.
Additional parking is available in the underground lot, with the entrance on 8th Street between the Unitarian Universalist Church and the YMCA building (2914 8th Street). Double parking is also prohibited in this lot.
Free 1- and 2-hour street parking and metered parking are available nearby. Please read all posted signs carefully for parking restrictions and time limits.
Please RSVP early for yourself and for FREE BABYSITTING if needed (including boys ages 12 and under). An accurate RSVP count helps our team prepare for the day. Thank you!

About the Khateebah
Dr. Nayawiyyah Muhammad is a scholar, educator, and Muslim community leader whose work brings together faith, social justice, and environmental justice. She earned her B.A. and M.A. in Religious Studies from California State University, Long Beach, and her Ph.D. in Women's Studies in Religion from Claremont Graduate University.
She teaches Women's Studies at Compton College and Religious Studies at California State University, Long Beach. Her teaching and scholarship center questions of faith, identity, justice, Muslim women's leadership, and community.
Dr. Nayawiyyah serves in a leadership role at the Women's Mosque of America, where she is helping to carry forward the vision and legacy of founder M. Hasna Maznavi and cultivate spaces where Muslim women can learn, lead, and flourish.

After Jumu'ah prayer is over, we will be providing you with light refreshments as we sit in a sisterly circle for our beloved post-Jumu'ah Q&A Discussion Circle with the Khateebah. This is a place where you can bring your questions and where you get to witness the beautiful range of diverse perspectives within our thriving community.
