Fountain Community Garden Volunteer Days
About this Event
Fountain Community Garden Volunteer Days
Located on Fountain Avenue near the iconic 101 Freeway, Fountain Community Gardens (FCG) was founded on June 6, 2009, by the City of Los Angeles to create a beautiful and peaceful oasis in East Hollywood for organic community gardening. FCG provides a diverse, inclusive space for anyone interested in growing their own fruits and vegetables.
We have volunteer days every second Saturday of the month, but in addition to that, we also host special volunteer days.
Join us for a fun-filled day of gardening at FCG! Our volunteer days are a great way to give back to the community and connect with fellow green thumbs. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, everyone is welcome to lend a hand.
From turning compost piles, spreading mulch, weeding, and cleaning up garden boxes, there’s always something to do in the garden. You’ll also have the chance to chat with other gardening enthusiasts, share tips, and make new friends.
No prior experience is necessary, as we will provide all the tools and guidance needed. Just bring your enthusiasm, energy, and a willingness to get your hands dirty!
What to Bring:
✅ Comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor work
✅ Gardening gloves (if you have them)
✅ Sunscreen, a hat, and a water bottle to stay hydrated

Agenda
Bring Your Food Scraps to Contribute to Our Compost!
Info: As we continue to work on our community garden, we’d love to remind you about the opportunity to bring your food scraps to contribute to our compost! Composting helps us recycle organic waste into nutrient-rich soil, supporting sustainable gardening practices.
Feel free to bring:
• Fruit and vegetable scraps
• Coffee grounds and filters
• Eggshells
• Tea bags
• Yard waste (grass, leaves, etc.)
By bringing your scraps, you’ll help us keep the garden thriving and reduce waste in the process!
Thanks for helping us grow sustainably!
