About this Event
Please join Women in Tax for a panel event over breakfast for this year's Carers Week, in collaboration with CIOT and ATT, on the theme of putting carers on the map and increasing the visibility of the unpaid care work they do.
Figures from the most recent census show there are approximately 5.7 million unpaid carers in the UK, meaning around 9% of people are providing unpaid care. 59% of these are women, who are more likely to become carers, provide more hours of unpaid care than men, and provide high intensity care at ages when they would expect to be in paid work (according to research by Petrillo and Bennett).
We are delighted to welcome a panel of speakers who have experience as carers while pursuing their careers as well as being responsible for childcare. The panel will be chaired by Alexis Armitage (Senior Associate, RPC LLP) and include the following speakers:
- Tasneem Kadiri (Chair of Women in Tax and UK & Ireland Tax Director, L’Oréal) - Tasneem will share her experience of caring for her mother during Covid while juggling caring for her children and pursuing her career, as well as caring for her son who is neurodiverse.
- Malcolm Baines (Head of Tax, UK & Ireland, Bouygues Construction UK) - Malcolm is head of tax for Bouygues Construction in the UK and has been the carer for his wife, Vivienne, following her disabling stroke 16 years ago.
- Anastasia Nourescu (Senior Associate, Stewarts) - Anastasia grew up seeing the challenges that her mother faced caring for her father with no support, while also working in a tough industry.
Please note the panel will start at 9:30 am, but you are welcome to join us from 9:00 am for networking over tea, coffee and breakfast.
