UAL Education Conference 2024

Celebrating our 10th conference we are returning to a fully in-person, one-day format and this year we will be hosted by Central Saint Martins, taking over the college spaces with workshops, talks, innovative sessions and discussions.

Following a successful open call, the Conference programme is curated by the submissions' criticality, contemporary relevance and concerns, from which we have developed the key themes of:

• Student rights and agency
• Aesthetics and ethics of embodied learning
• Writing our way out of trouble [ : ; ,]
• Post-analogue strategies
• Resituating the curriculum in the context of change

With respect to current global events, several sessions will also reflect on significant questions related to climate, racial, social justice and how our social purpose makes demands on us to incorporate nuance whilst attending to ethics.

We invite you to join us for all or part of the day. There will be morning pastries, teas and coffees, and a seasonal vegan and vegetarian buffet lunch. We will also be hosting a celebration event in the platform bar at the close of the day, where there will be drinks, non-alcoholic refreshements and music to come together and enjoy.

With your support and attendance, we would like to create an renewed opportunity to bring all UAL Staff together for depth of engagement and to share experiences across colleges, develop new networks of critical friendship and collaboration, and renew our hopes and plans for the coming year.

In-person at CSM

The Conference is open to all UAL Staff and collaborating external presenters. Unfortunately, this event is not open to other external guests.

When you register there will be number of ticket types to add to your basket:

• UAL Staff Admission: By registering for this ticket type, you will have access to all the conference rooms.
• External UAL Guest: If you are an external Guest you will need to select this ticket type, but you will have access to all the conference spaces and workshops.

You will need to select add-on tickets to register for the Conference evening reception event.

If you can no longer attend this event we’d appreciate it if you could cancel your place within the booking system. This gives others the opportunity to take your space.

We reserve the right to cancel this event if we do not get enough numbers or due to other circumstances outside of our control. You will be notified via email if this happens.
