For our next read, we’re diving into Winterset Hollow by Jonathan Edward Durham—a novel that takes cozy childhood nostalgia and turns it upside down with a chilling twist. Dark fantasy and horror mix in this story of retribution, reparation, and the unsettling consequences of old secrets.

Our main character, Eamon, is drawn back to his childhood favorite, Winterset Hollow by E.B. Addington—a seemingly innocent tale of talking animals that captivated him since he was young. Joined by friends Mark and Caroline, he visits Addington Isle, the book’s real-life setting, just in time for the annual “Barley Day” feast. What they discover there, though, is much darker than they ever imagined, as the beloved characters take on a terrifying, sadistic reality.
Heads up: Winterset Hollow is a bit tough to find, so we recommend grabbing it early. Some libraries have it, or you can pick it up on Kindle if needed.
