Winter sowing - Junior Garden Club
Advertisement
Join the Garden Club of Elizabethtown for a unique hands-on activity where we turn recycled materials into amazing mini-greenhouses! Kids will use old milk jugs to create a tiny, protective home for native Kentucky seeds. This special "winter sowing" technique lets the seeds stay outside in the cold to naturally break their dormancy, giving them the perfect chilly start they need. This is an outside event, so dress accordingly!Every child will take home their own miniature greenhouse to place outside, watching through winter and spring as their sleepy seeds wake up and grow into strong, healthy native plants—ready for planting in the garden later in the season!
