About this Event
Winter Solstice Meditation Ceremony
A candlelit evening of meditation, reflection and renewal for the longest night of the year.
Join us for a deeply grounding winter solstice meditation ceremony held in candlelight, stillness and quiet reverence.
The winter solstice marks the longest night of the year — a natural threshold in the turning of the seasons. It is a time to pause, reflect, honour what has been, and gently turn toward the returning light.
In the busyness of ordinary life, these seasonal thresholds can pass without notice. This ceremony creates a calm and intentional space to stop, breathe, listen inwardly and reconnect with what matters.
This is not a loud, performative or overly mystical event. It is a grounded, respectful and quietly meaningful meditation ceremony for people who want to mark the winter solstice with presence, depth and care.
Who this ceremony is for:
This ceremony is for people who feel drawn to a slower, quieter and more reflective way of marking the solstice.
It may be especially suitable if you:
- feel over extended and stressed, emotionally drained or in need of a rest.
- want time to reflect on the solstice and the coming season shift
- are moving through change, transition, uncertainty or renewal
- feel drawn to candlelight, stillness, ritual and reflection
- want to reconnect with your inner life in a calm and grounded way
- would like to share a meaningful, heart-felt afternoon with others without pressure or performance
- are curious about meditation but do not want anything intimidating or religious
No meditation experience is required. You do not need to be spiritual, religious, experienced, flexible, calm, or “good at meditation”. You are welcome as you are.
What to expect:
The afternoon will be guided, spacious and gentle.
We will begin with time to arrive, settle into the space and connect lightly with others. You will not be rushed straight into practice. The opening part of the evening is designed to help the body and mind slow down and feel safe enough to become present.
From there, we will move into a simple guided honouring process. This may include reflecting on what you are ready to acknowledge, release, complete, or carry forward from the past season.
There will be a candlelit meditation practice, held in stillness and quiet attention. The meditation will be accessible and clearly guided, so beginners are welcome.
There will also be time for journaling and quiet reflection. Please bring a journal and pen. You may wish to write about what has been difficult, what has been meaningful, what you are letting go of, and what kind of light or direction you are gently turning toward.
There may be opportunities for gentle connection or optional sharing with others, but you will not be pressured to speak, perform, disclose anything personal, make eye contact, touch anyone, or participate in anything that does not feel right for you.
The emphasis is on consent, choice, steadiness and care.
The tone of the afternoon:
Calm, warm, respectful and quietly ceremonial.
This is a space for stillness and reflectio.
It is for gentle reconnection.
The winter solstice invites us to meet the dark honestly, without rushing past it, and to remember that the return of light begins slowly. This ceremony honours that rhythm.
You may come with a specific intention, a life transition, a sense of tiredness, a desire for renewal, or simply curiosity. There is no right way to arrive.
What this event is not:
A religious service.
Therapy or a substitute for mental health care.
A high-intensity breathwork, catharsis or emotional release workshop.
A performance or entertainment event.
It is a grounded meditation ceremony for people who want to mark the winter solstice in a calm, meaningful and embodied way.
What to bring:
- a journal and pen
- warm, comfortable clothing
- water if you would like it
- anything simple that helps you feel settled, such as a shawl or cushion, if you prefer your own
Come as you are. You do not need to prepare anything, believe anything, or know how to meditate.
This ceremony is an invitation to pause at the longest night, honour what has been, and gently turn toward the returning light.
