Wines of the Southern Hemisphere
About this Event
Wines of the Southern Hemisphere: New World, New Rules
South of the equator, harvest comes in March, vineyards climb to elevations that would be unthinkable in most of Europe, and winemakers — less bound by centuries of tradition — have had more room to experiment. This class is a tour through what that freedom produces.
We'll pour our way through some of the most interesting corners of the Southern Hemisphere's wine map, hitting three continents in one sitting — South America, Africa, and Australia. Expect high-altitude reds, coastal whites shaped by ocean fog, old vines with decades of history behind them, and grape varieties that built entire reputations by doing something nobody else was doing at the time.
The throughline: younger wine industries willing to take risks that older regions often can't — and the results to prove it.
Diana Schultz, winemaker at Augustina Cellars and Living Room BFF, is back to lead the class. Expect the same format as always — relaxed, hands-on, more conversation than lecture. Grab your seat before this one fills up — Diana's classes always do!
