St. Innocent Winery is a respected, family-driven winery in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, founded in 1988 by Mark Vlossak with a passion for crafting wines that express terroir and food-friendliness.
Mark — inspired by Old World traditions and guided by early mentorship under Oregon wine pioneer Fred Arterberry — set out to make site-specific Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Riesling and even traditional method sparkling wines that highlight the unique soils and microclimates of top Willamette Valley vineyards.
Today St. Innocent is known for its critically acclaimed vineyard-designated wines, especially Pinot Noir from renowned sites like Shea, Temperance Hill, Momtazi and Freedom Hill, as well as elegant whites and sparkling offerings, all made with a focus on balance, freshness and nuance.
MARK VLOSSAK
Mark Vlossak is the founder, winemaker, and president of St. Innocent Winery, one of Oregon’s most respected producers in the Willamette Valley. He grew up immersed in wine—tasting daily with his father, a wine educator and importer—which instilled in him a deep appreciation for wine and its relationship with food from an early age.
Originally trained as a theatrical designer and later as a pediatric physician assistant, Mark moved to Oregon in 1980, where his passion for wine propelled him to study winemaking, including apprenticeships under Oregon pioneer Fred Arterberry. In 1988 he founded St. Innocent with the aim of crafting wines that express true sense of place, particularly single-vineyard Pinot Noirs, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling, all designed to pair beautifully with food.
Over decades, he has become known for his terroir-driven, elegantly textured wines and thoughtful selection of vineyard sites across the Willamette Valley. Under his leadership, St. Innocent’s wines have earned critical recognition—including multiple high scores and industry accolades—and the winery has grown while maintaining an artisanal approach to winemaking.
Beyond the cellar, Mark remains actively engaged with visitors and the broader wine community, often pairing his wines with thoughtfully prepared food and sharing his philosophy that wine should compliment and extend the pleasure of a meal.
