Winds of Change

Common Ground is pleased to announce a two-day convening on offshore wind, taking place December 17 and 18, 2024, Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) in Coos Bay, Oregon in the Umpqua Hall. The event will be livestreamed.

The Coalition for Common Ground is a coalition dedicated to promoting informed, fact-based discussions around renewable energy development, with a particular emphasis on ensuring that the voices of local communities, and related groups are heard and integrated into decision-making processes. This event will provide a neutral platform for attendees to gather and examine the potential impacts and opportunities related to offshore wind energy in the Pacific Northwest.

Tuesday, December 17 will feature a series of four workshops focusing on topics ranging from the basics of offshore wind, data and information, processes for communities to engage in offshore wind, and sourcing information. Sessions will run from 9 am-5:30pm PST. Close with a moderated panel with workshop speakers.

Wednesday, December 18 will feature representatives from Oceantic Network as well as subject matter experts, who will present a full-day industry course called Offshore Wind Ready. We welcome all members of the local community in joining this convening to share and learn information about offshore wind.

The Evening Mixer will be an open networking event for everyone to attend. Leaders from across the State of Oregon are invited who have been participating in the Offshore Wind Roadmap Roundtable. The December Round Table is scheduled for December 19th. While this is a separate event, we are encouraging people to attend.

The convening aims to ensure that all voices, including those from coastal communities, are heard and residents of the South Coast have access to real-time information and opportunities to engage.

Registration includes catered lunch for both days, and appetizers during the Evening Mixer.
