Wind Down through Mindfulness: A Workshop for Families Navigating Autism
The sessions are for one child and one parent or guardian. Each one-hour workshop will begin with a breathing warm-up followed by a structured movement routine with visual cues to create a comfortable experience and empower any learner regardless of their level or experience. We'll close with a guided meditation to decrease sensory input and calm the nervous system for children and their parents/guardians alike.
The first two sessions (July) are under-the-sea themed, and the final two (August) are nature themed. We will incorporate these themes to help to reinforce the learning of skills that manage emotions, self regulate, and develop body awareness. All participants will also leave with a takeaway resource or activity that can be used to continue developing mindfulness skills.
While the Wind Down through Mindfulness series supports parents/guardians too, they are not required to participate, though they must remain present for the entirety of the workshop. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one; if not, one will be provided for you.
All Wind Down through Mindfulness workshops are free for families — but please limit your registration to one class only! Our intention for this series is to reach as many local families as we can. Register at ShanthiProject.org/events.
