Willow Weaving: Willow Baskets

This June, we are excited to offer a willow weaving workshop in The Orangery at Sledmere, where you’ll have the opportunity to create your very own Willow Basket.
Have you ever wanted to weave your own basket? This beginner’s workshops is your ideal chance to take a day for yourself and give it a go! You will learn a number of basic techniques for making a small unique basket, such as a bread basket or one to hold a bottle (or similar size).
A lovely, relaxing day with all the tuition and help you want in the beautiful setting of the Orangery at Sledmere. During this day-long workshop you will have chance to weave your basket base, then create either a small narrow basket or a wider, shallow table basket. You will finish off with a border and maybe a simple handle if desired.
Tickets:
General Admission: £85.50 per person
Sledmere Season Ticket Holders or 2025 Friends Members: £81.50 per person.
There are limited numbers on this workshop - it is highly recommended that tickets are booked in advance!
Full instructions are given and all equipment and materials are provided. You will need to be comfortable working with your hands all day - it is not suitable for anyone with hand, arm or shoulder problems and you will need to stand for some of the time. Please arrive promptly for the start of your workshop and wear closed-toe boots or shoes.
During the breaks of the workshop, you can enjoy all that Sledmere has to offer as your ticket also includes entry to the Parkland and Gardens.
