Magpie Mine is one of the best preserved lead mines in the Peak District and the location of a curse! We start with a short walk around the village of Sheldon with a look at the history of the village. We will then walk across the fields to the old mine. The return will focus on the beautiful wild flowers around the mine, some of which are specialists to heavy metal spoil heaps.

Event Grade: Easy - short walk on paths that may be rough and uneven.

Extra Items: Please bring waterproofs, food and drink and sun protection and strong footwear.

Event Terrain: Old field tracks and paths, the walk will be at leisurely pace.

Meeting Point: Sheldon Village Green, outside the Cock and Pullet Pub. Sorry, but no toilets available here.
