Even as we look out to creation and see the gift that is the more-than-human natural world, we are reminded that we too are nature, in our very being. This involves all aspects of our personhood: our bodies, our psychological systems (including thought, emotion, and psychological depths), and those aspects that we might identify as soul and/or spirit. Our resonance with nature allows us opportunity to converse with nature, to learn more about its inhabitants as well as our own selves, including aspects of our depths that may be harder to know, yet are waiting for our caring attention. Even the Christian tradition suggests an opportunity to listen to and learn from creation to discover more about our inner depths, outer world, and the Creator behind and within creation and each of us. In this time of sharing, we will consider how nature helps us understand some aspects human personhood, and introduce an opportunity for listening and speaking with nature to better understand ourselves in our deeper places.
About our Facilitator:
Adam Ghali is a husband, a father of two young children, a university faculty member and administrator, a licensed psychologist, and a Christian who is passionate about how nature and our relationship with it informs our faith, our psychology, and our world.
