WiL and Company Bio~
Before making his first record WiL armed himself with an overdrive pedal, an acoustic guitar and a strumming style that most had ever seen and everybody wanted to watch.
It was the 90’s when bands like Pearl Jam ruled the airwaves and songs like Neutral Milk Hotel’s Ghost, with its flagrant use of the overdrive pedal either polarized listeners or blew their minds. WiL was one of the latter and to this very day, when fans ask how he gets his guitar to sound like that, part of the answer can be traced back to that NMH song… but that only scratches the surface.
WiL has always been drawn to music that explores life’s deeper, darker side—a conundrum for someone long known for onstage hilarity, off-the-cuff rants, and sweat-soaked, string-breaking live shows. That contrast has made him difficult to label or fit neatly into one genre. If you had followed his career for any length of time, you will likely agree that this recurring tension is what makes WiL’s music stand out: it is hard to define in simple terms. Writing about life’s roller-coaster ride—its highs and lows—and weaving those stories into melody-soaked, passion-driven performances is the kind of work WiL can sink his teeth into. To him, living in the grey zone is a far scarier prospect.
“I will yell my feelings at you and tell you about my life through music. The songs will be dynamic, then sweetly quiet and then they’ll get nutty. When we’re finished I’ll be sweating and hopefully after all that you’ll have been moved just a little bit”
And yes, comparisons abound, Ray LaMontagne, Ryan Adams, Nathaniel Rateliff … fantastic company for sure… but WiL likes to stick with his own Company; that with which he keeps while performing on stage. For him there is nothing more fulfilling than transcribing the songs he has crafted over the past twenty odd years into an immersive live event with his long time drummer Keith Gallant and multi-instrumentalist Tyler Lieb ( keys, pedal steel and electric guitar )
In 2024 WiL set about penning new music and teaming up with Dirty Windshields ( CKUA ) host and alt country singer/songwriter Leeroy Stagger to record and co-produce a series of ‘double sided singles’ slated for release throughout 2026/27. The format will include the studio version plus a live version ( and an accompanying live performance video )
The first of these tracks is titled Pieces and is due out on September 18th 2026
Leeroy Stagger And His Band Bio~
Leeroy Stagger is a beloved, award-winning Canadian Singer-Songwriter, Producer and Master Storyteller. Stylistically his music moves between Folk, Roots and Rocknroll.
He is Inspired as much by John Prine and Nick Drake as he is Tom Petty and Joe Strummer. For the past twenty years, he has been touring North America and Europe, making records and gaining a strong and, more importantly, dedicated following.
His music is written through the lens of a spiritual path through addiction and recovery; he cuts a trail through the human condition in only a way that a veteran observational traveller and artist can.
Leeroy was signed to the infamous Canadian Label True North Records (Bruce Cockburn, Blackie and The Rodeo Kings) as well as industry mogul Danny Goldberg’s (Nirvana, Steve Earle, The Cranberries) Gold Lake Records.
He has supported and toured with Steve Earle, Josh Ritter, Buffy Sainte Marie, Frazey Ford, The Pixies, Modest Mouse, Los Lobos, The Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell, and more.
He is just as at home in a cafe with an audience of 50 as he is on a festival stage with an audience of 10,000.
These days Leeroy is raising kids and producing records in his studio, Neighbourhood Recorders. He is also the host of the weekly Dirty Windshields Radio hour on world-famous CKUA radio.
