Come join us for a free, fun-filled family event celebrating World Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding Week! Bring your blankets and your loved ones!
About this Event

Hosted by the City of Berkeley's WIC program, we'll have activities and resources to support moms and healthy, thriving families.

This year's World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) theme this year is “Prioritize Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems" focusing on how breastfeeding can build long-term, sustainable support systems that make breastfeeding accessible for all families.

Berkeley families, especially those who are expecting or have children under 5, are invited to attend our free picnic. Get free tools and personal consultation to help you with chest- or breastfeeding.

Open to all families, this picnic will provide free healthy food, free diapers, connection to health resources, and community bonding.

Meet staff from our Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. WIC supports low-income people who are or were recently pregnant and children under 5. You can get free food, lactation counseling, diapers, and more through WIC.

The whole family will also have a variety of activities to enjoy-including diaper and book giveaways.

Get information from local organizations at our health fair. Meet staff from the City’s Immunization and Black Infant Health Programs, The Baby Book Project, the YMCA, and others.

Connect with resources to help you give your baby a healthy head-start through breastfeeding. Get free breastfeeding gifts, like nursing pads, hand pumps, and nursing covers. We’ll even have a certified Lactation Consultant on hand to help you with breastfeeding questions.

Enjoy activities for the whole family, including:

  • Free boxed lunch, donated by Humbowl (while supplies last)
  • Free diapers
  • Children’s activity station and playground
  • Line dancing
  • Raffle with prizes

For more information about the event, please call (510) 981-5360 or email [email protected].

George Florence Mini Park is accessible via AC Transit #52. You can also walk from North Berkeley BART.
