About this Event

Join Jonathan Webster of StoryCorps’ One Small Step for an interactive workshop exploring what helps conversations across differences create meaningful connection. Through live polling and a hands-on One Small Step exercise, participants will practice core connection skills and examine why some conversations change minds while most do not.

The Sep. 21 session is in partnership with the USC Open Dialogue Project. It will draw on research from More in Common and Dartmouth, as well as new national data from StoryCorps’ Connect 250 project, which conducted 1,550 conversations in summer 2026. Participants will leave with practical insights into the value of connection and how to approach conversations across differences. This event is being held in partnership with the USC Open Dialogue Project.
