About this Event
Why Should Our Rage Be Tidy?
Minoritised Survivors’ Experiences of Mental Health in the Context of Violence-Abuse.
Imkaan will be hosting a Parliamentary event on Tuesday 26th November, from 1.00pm - 3.30 pm, in the Churchill Room, House of Commons, to celebrate the launch of our powerful new report, ‘Why Should Our Rage Be Tidy? Minoritised Survivors’ Experiences of Mental Health in the Context of Violence-Abuse’. This significant research is a collaboration between Imkaan, the University of Warwick, and the Women and Girls Network.
The launch event will be hosted by Dawn Butler MP and will feature a powerful lineup of speakers, each bringing pivotal insights and experiences related to this critical issue. Speakers will include Domestic Abuse Commissioner Nicole Jacobs, report co-authors Dr. Ravi Thiara from the University of Warwick and Dr. Akima Thomas from Women and Girls Network, as well as a survivor-activist who has played a crucial role in shaping the research. The collective expertise, advocacy, and lived experiences of the report contributors were fundamental to the development of the report’s findings and recommendations, underscoring the importance of their voices in this conversation.
Further distinguished speakers will be announced soon.
This event is a vital platform to spotlight the intersection of mental health and violence-abuse as experienced by minoritised survivors, and to elevate their voices in shaping both policy and practice.
