It’s time to crush some couches!
Don’t miss this once-a-year opportunity to shed all of that unwanted junk taking up room in your garages, closets, backyards and basements. In the process, you can help not only our community but also our Cleanup event partners.
Joining us this year, will be our local high school football team (Go Cowboys) collecting recyclable beverage containers, and Women in Need, collecting gently used household items. Please show our partners that you value their efforts in our community by remembering to pack up a donation for them while you are loading up your trunk for drop off.
Techno Trash and Alcop will also be on hand to on board your aging electronics and metal junk. We receive a rebate from the provincial government for every pound of electronic waste that we collect. Your broken and obsolete TV's (LCD/CRT or plasma), computers, computer parts, laptops, e readers, printers, fax machines, copiers, scanners, wires and cables are gold to us.
This year, the Chicken Project volunteers will be providing some muscle at our event in exchange for a donation toward the building of our community coop. Yup, we are going to convert your aging electronics into eggs…the magic of community spirit at work!
Please also consider this as an invitation to come out and volunteer at this event. We have morning and afternoon shifts for volunteers of all ages and abilities and a call out to sign up will be heading your way soon. It’s a fun event in which to participate, and one of the few where you can make a difference to the environment, to sport, to the community, to those less fortunate, and even to our future chickens! Plus, maybe best of all, we all get to wear high vis vests!
Please put September 5th in your calendar both for junk removal and for your next volunteer experience.

Techno Trash - Accepting TV's (LCD/CRT or plasma), computers, computer parts, laptops, e readers, printers, fax machines, copiers, scanners, wires and cables
Wins (Women in Need Society) - Accepting most new or gently used furniture, household goods, computers, musical instruments and clothing, linens, books
ALCOP - Accepting junk metal such as patio furniture, bed frames, metal ornaments, bike frames etc
City of Calgary - Collecting all safe-to-dispose-of-items not suitable for reuse such as furniture, carpets, rugs, blinds see calgary.ca community cleanups for complete list
