Part of the "We the Teachers" National Fellowship and "Conversations on the Declaration" programs. Join us for "When the Declaration of Independence was News," a talk delivered by W&M alumna Dr. Emily Sneff. Dr. Sneff's research reveals fresh perspectives on the Declaration of Independence by focusing on the earliest public readings and print reactions to independence in English and European languages. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Dr. Emily Sneff is an early American historian and leading expert on the Declaration of Independence. She earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in History from William & Mary. She was a consulting curator for exhibitions marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration at the Museum of the American Revolution and Historic Trappe. She is the author of When the Declaration of Independence Was News, published by Oxford University Press in 2026. This event is in the Tidewater Room, Sadler Center, on the W&M campus.
