When Monsters Dream [exhibition closing tour]
About this Event
Support independent art and accessible culture by purchasing a CCNY Patron Ticket! Every dollar supports the Czech Center in our goal of developing new opportunities for creativity and innovation in New York and around the world! Suggested donation: $10.
This is the final opportunity to experience the exhibition, which brings together works by Václav Girsa, Tomáš Hrůza, Tom Kotík, Ladislav Kouba, Michal Mariášek, Jan Ságl, Daniel Vlček, and Antonín Gazda. Connected to the Prague-based post-underground collective Střešovická Kramle, the artists move between painting, sound, installation, photography, and video, creating a shifting world shaped by dystopian imagery, ecological unease, hybrid figures, and unexpected encounters between music and visual art.
Throughout the evening, Brooklyn-based artist, curator, and musician Tom Kotík will guide visitors through the exhibition, discuss his own installation, and offer a personal perspective on the works, ideas, and creative relationships behind the project. Guests are invited to meet the artist, join the conversation, and enjoy a complimentary drink while marking the exhibition’s final night.
Tom Kotík is a Brooklyn-based artist, curator, and musician whose work explores the relationship between visual art and music, translating rhythm, tone, and structure into abstract compositions and sculptural installations. He has exhibited internationally at venues including Gallery SPZ in Prague, Lesley Heller Workspace in New York, and the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona. Since 2013, he has also served as Curator at Large for Arts Brookfield.
