What’s in a Name?based on Le Prénom by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière
“What’s in a Name” is an English adaptation by Jeremy Sams of “Le Prénom”, the highly successful French play by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière of 2011 and subsequent film; the Paris setting is replaced by London.
The play explores what happens in a small group of relatives and friends when one of them drops a controversial bombshell.
This leads to opinions and revelations that question the whole basis of the relationships between the members of the group.
It is funny, shocking, angry, warm, silly by turns.
It is perhaps unsurprising, given its French origin, that the context is an exotic meal.
Directed by Janet Middleton, “What’s in a name” follows one of the self-imposed rules of the ETCetera company in that it is performed partly in English, partly in French; with corresponding surtitles in French and English.
As a warm-up, we will start with “Blind Date”, a comic 2- hander by highly successful English writer Peter Quilter, directed by Hugh Dow, with surtitles in French; followed by a short interval.
Venue: the Warehouse Studio Theatre, rue Waelhem 69A, 1030 Brussels.
Performances: 8th to 12th April 2025 at 8pm; plus matinée on Sat 12th April at 2.30pm.

Seats are not numbered; if you have been to the Warehouse Studio Theatre, you will know that the space is intimate and all seats are good seats.
