Among the musical projects that emerged during the lockdown, Fleur de Feu stands out for its immersive and spiritual approach. The collective, founded by Dominique Van Cappellen-Waldock, reflects on the loss of a close friend and the prohibition of attending her funeral at the peak of a highly regulated health crisis.
Somewhere between a funeral wake and a shamanic ceremony, the musical offering establishes sacred connections with the melancholic depths explored by artists such as Chelsea Wolfe and Anna von Hausswolff. Accompanied by cellist Matthieu Safatly, guitarists Teuk Henri and Raphaël Rastelli, and James De Backer on lap steel, Dominique Van Cappellen-Waldock invites each of us to let our tears flow, embracing the beauty of existence.
