What We Believe, What We Do: A Poetry & Writing Workshop
About this Event
What happens when what we believe doesn't match what we do?
In this workshop, we will explore cognitive dissonance—the discomfort that can arise when our actions clash with our beliefs, values, or understanding of ourselves. We will begin with an accessible introduction to cognitive dissonance and explore the tensions that can emerge when our thoughts and behaviours don't align.
From there, we will use writing as a way to explore these contradictions. Through a series of reflective and creative writing exercises, we will look at the gap between what we say, what we believe, and what we actually do.
You don't need to have any previous experience with poetry or creative writing. Come with an open mind and a willingness to explore the complicated space between what we believe and what we do.
