What Liberty Means

$16 Public | $8 Members | $5 Kids
Organizations in the Town of Huntington have planned a wide variety of exhibits and programs to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Independence. One of the most exciting programs explores the question of what Liberty means.
Huntington’s celebration focuses on Liberty and features the official Town flag which is the Liberty flag. The theme for the celebration is inspired by Huntington’s motto, “The Town Endures.” Likewise, the theme of our celebration is “Liberty Endures.”
But what does Liberty mean? Over the past year, the Huntington Historical Society has asked residents throughout the town that very question. Huntingtonians shared their thoughts in short videos that have been combined to create a compelling picture of what the residents of 2026 think of our country’s founding principle. The video also creates a record of life in 2026 for future generations to look back on.
This short film will provide insights to what we found. We found a variety of views; but mostly we found that “Liberty Endures.”
