Oliver Stone’s epic portrait of one of the charismatic front man of the psychedelic rock group The Doors chronicles the turbulent life and career of singer Jim Morrison (Val Kilmer), whose poetic mystique made him one of rock music’s most enduring cultural icons. Following the band’s rise from the clubs of Los Angeles to international fame, the film explores Morrison’s electrifying stage persona and increasingly self-destructive lifestyle during the height of the 1960s counterculture.
