What is ADHD and what can we learn from it?
About this Event
Small tasks feel overwhelming. Thoughts race. Impulsivity, focus and self-
regulation are constant challenges
These are some traits of Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
There’s a lot of “buzz” about the condition these days. And it’s not just in
kids like we used to think.
But what really is ADHD? Do you have it? Do your kids? How do you
know?
If so, what can you actually do about it? Is ADHD even a 'real' thing, or just
an excuse for disorganization and laziness?
Our next Creative Frequencies conversation delves into these questions
and more. Join us at Sound Union in Redwood City (and on LinkedIn Live)
on Monday Dec 9, 5-8pm.
We will have a pioneer in understanding and treating ADHD, Dr. Aaron
Winkler, M.D., founder and former director of the Adult ADHD Clinic at
Stanford University. In his extensive clinical work with hundreds of patients,
Dr. Winkler has created innovative tools for understanding, diagnosing, and
treating ADHD in adults. He has presented his findings with colleagues
from Stanford and Harvard at major international conferences. As a
member of the APSARD National Taskforce, he is contributing to the
development of the first national guidelines for ADHD clinical care for
adults. Currently, Dr. Winkler practices privately in Palo Alto.
We'll discuss his research, the complex overlap between ADHD and other
things like anxiety, depression, substance use and trauma, and talk about
how discovering the deep complexity of ADHD can profoundly simplify
treatment for those who are struggling.
Questions and ideas from the audience will be encouraged. We will stream
live on LinkedIn and Youtube. See you there.
