In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus sends out his apostles to heal the sick. But not all people of faith are healthcare professionals, and yet all of us are called to take part in the work of healing in our daily lives. Join Dr. Lenny Grant as he shares the story of the Resilience Writing Project, a health humanities initiative devoted to caring for caregivers by helping them use writing to flourish instead of burning out. What began as a single workshop for social workers during the pandemic has grown into more than 50 workshops nationwide over four years, bringing the healing power of the humanities to professionals across the spectrum of care, from nonprofits feeding the homeless to cardiac surgeons. Attendees will be invited to reflect on their talents and how those gifts can be offered to strengthen the health of their neighbors. Together we will reimagine what counts as a “healthcare system” and discover how small acts of compassion, grounded in the Christian humanistic tradition, can transform the well-being of our communities.
