What are the social sciences good for?

What is sociology good for? Should we bother studying anthropology? Who cares about political science? We believe social research can help us make sense of an increasingly bleak world; it can also be a tool in building resistance and solidarity movements. We believe that we need to highlight and showcase researchers in training conducting socially-relevant research, as well as those using innovative and unusual methods that go beyond the narrowly-constructed mainstream.

This 2-day festival, organised by Post Graduate Research students from across the School of Global Change, is made up of roundtable sessions addressing aspects of socially-engaged research, methodological workshops and an exhibition of archival and practice-based research.

This event is open to anyone interested in social science - whether you’re studying for A levels, are at undergraduate or postgraduate level, or are an established researcher
