Join us for the 16th Annual Whalefest Monterey on Saturday, April 11th & Sunday, April 12th. Whalefest is a 2-day FUN & FREE event set around Monterey’s Old Fisherman’s Wharf and the adjacent Custom House Plaza, designed to be enjoyed by attendees of all ages - where science, sustainability, and the spirit of the sea come together like nowhere else in Monterey County. What sets Whalefest apart is its powerful purpose: to inspire and educate the public about the wonders of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and the urgent need to protect it.The festival features exhibits from dozens of local and national non-profit organizations related to marine science, sustainability of land and sea, and the environment.
At the heart of the festival is a dynamic two-day symposium featuring renowned marine scientists sharing groundbreaking research on ocean health and climate resilience. Surrounding the symposium, visitors of all ages can dive into hands-on exhibits, explore cutting-edge technology, and engage with marine conservationists who are leading the charge to safeguard our ocean. The Whalefest Symposium features world-renowned scientists from local marine science research institutions who share their latest research findings.
More than just a festival, Whalefest Monterey is a call to action—an immersive experience that deepens our connection to the sea and empowers each visitor to become a steward of its future. Whalefest Monterey offers a wide array of marine exhibitors, music, activities, art, a history walk, boat displays showcases, and so much more.
