W najnowszym cyklu malarskim Julia Platt rozlicza się ze swoją przeszłością i niełatwym wejściem w dorosłość, któremu towarzyszyła długa, nieuleczalna choroba matki. Zapętlenie w czasie, przywiązanie i ponowne, ciągle analizowanie tych samych przedmiotów z przeszłości, przestały dawać ukojenie, generują niepokój i zmęczenie. Artystka próbuje wyrwać się z pułapki wspomnień za pomocą trików formalnych podpatrzonych u dawnych mistrzów oraz podejmując przejmująca zabawą rożnymi teksturami.
Na obrazie „Odwilż” pojawia się miękki, chociaż już lekko zmechacony dziecięcy kocyk. Kontrastuje z nim zimne, jakby przypadkowo ujęte w kadrze, lustrzane odbicie twarzy artystki. Zabieg obrazu w obrazie, jaki stosuje malarka w innej pracy sprawia, że kocyk traci swoją miękkość, a razem z nią, sentymentalny, osobisty charakter. Staje się ciężką brudną kotarą, fragmentem wciśniętego w kąt obrazu, który służy jedynie za tło nowemu.
Atmosfera tego cyklu, którego jednym z bohaterek jest róża – symbol nagłej śmierci, nieszczęścia, nie od razu budzi niepokój. Jest jak scenografia do filmowej adaptacji „Czasu pąsowej róży” Marii Krüger. Jednak współczesne, dziwaczne eementy, takie jak fajansowy dziecięcy bucik z wklejonym portretem dziecka, sprawiają, że powietrze gęstnieje, a my sami stajemy się świadkami rozłożonej w czasie terapii, empatycznymi towarzyszkami i towarzyszami procesu żałoby.
Wydarzenie specjalne w przestrzeni wystawy:
18. 19. i 20. września o godz. 18:00 performance "Zabawa" w reżyserii Ewy Platt. Wykonanie: Janka Komorowska-Majkowska.
„Zabawa” to autobiograficzny monodram, w którym reżyserka Ewa Platt powraca wraz ze swoją siostrą bliźniaczką do wybranych wspomnień z dzieciństwa. Powrót ten nie ma charakteru rekonstrukcji. To próba przywołania doświadczenia, które przez lata funkcjonowało jako synonim poczucia bezpieczeństwa.
Punktem wyjścia są podstawowe formy dziecięcej zabawy – gra w chowanego, berek. Zostają przywołane tak, jakby nigdy się nie skończyły. Jednocześnie w tle nieustannie powraca zdanie: „Nie płacz, nie płacz, to tylko zabawa.” Powtarzane niczym mantra, stopniowo odsłania niejednoznaczność pamięci i napięcie między dziecięcym doświadczeniem a jego późniejszym rozumieniem.

In her latest painting series, Julia Platt confronts her past and the difficult passage into adulthood, shaped by her mother’s long, incurable illness. Being caught in loops of time, attached to the same objects from the past and returning to them again and again, no longer brings comfort; instead, it gives rise to anxiety and exhaustion. The artist tries to break free from the trap of memory through formal devices borrowed from the old masters and through a poignant exploration of different textures.
The atmosphere of the series, in which one of the central motifs is the rose – a symbol of sudden death and misfortune – does not immediately evoke unease. It recalls the set of a film adaptation of Maria Krüger’s "Godzina pąsowej róży" ("The Hour of the Crimson Rose," 1960). Yet contemporary, uncanny elements, such as a faience child’s shoe with a child’s portrait inserted into it, make the air grow heavy. We become witnesses to a therapy unfolding over time, empathetic companions in the process of mourning.
Accompanying Performance in the Exhibition Space:
On September 18, 19, and 20 at 6 PM, the solo performance “Play”, written and directed by Ewa Platt, and performed by Janka Komorowska-Majkowska, will be presented in the exhibition space.
“Play” is an autobiographical solo performance in which director Ewa Platt, together with her twin sister, Julia Platt, returns to selected memories from their childhood. This return is not an attempt to reconstruct the past, but rather to evoke an experience that, for years, remained closely associated with a sense of safety.
The performance takes as its starting point the simple forms of childhood play — hide-and-seek, tag. They are revisited as though they had never truly ended. At the same time, one sentence keeps resurfacing in the background: “Don’t cry, don’t cry, it’s only a game.” Repeated like a mantra, it gradually reveals the ambiguity of memory and the tension between the experience of childhood and the way it is understood in retrospect.
