Talk schedules:

No Studio, No Problem: Classic Portraits with Minimal Kit.

You don't need a studio, expensive lighting, or a van full of gear to create classic, timeless portraits. You just need to know what you're doing with what you've got.

In this practical session, Glyn Dewis shows exactly how he creates his signature classic portraits using minimal kit in a limited space. From laying out the gear and setting up the light, through to working with a subject in front of the camera, this is a real-world demonstration with no shortcuts and no assumptions about budget or space.

The session covers the kit itself and why less is often more, how to set up and use light to create a clean, timeless look that works every time, and the often-overlooked skill of relaxing your subject in front of the camera, because the best lighting setup in the world won't save a portrait if the person in it looks uncomfortable. No studio required.

Cinematic Sports Portraits: Building Powerful Athlete and Team Images.

Join photographer Stephanie Thornton at the Wex Summer Roadshows for Cinematic Sports Portraits: Building Powerful Athlete and Team Images. An inspiring 1-hour seminar exploring how to create bold, impactful portraits that capture the energy, personality and atmosphere of sport.

Stephanie will share practical advice on lighting, posing, composition and storytelling, showing how to build strong individual and team images with a cinematic feel. Whether you photograph athletes, teams, fitness content or action-led portraits, this session will give you ideas and techniques you can put into practice straight away.

Getting the most out of your Canon Mirrorless Cameras.

Unlock the full potential of a Canon Mirrorless Cameras with guidance from a Canon specialist! Learn essential menu settings, time-saving shortcuts, and expert tips that can transform the way you shoot. Whether you already own a Canon camera or are thinking about making the switch to mirrorless, this talk is packed with valuable insights for photographers of all levels.

Forty Farms: A behind-the-scenes look at the making and publishing of her award-winning book.

Join award-winning Cumbrian photographer, author and RPS Fellow Amy Bateman for a behind-the-scenes look at the making and publishing of her award-winning book.

In this one-hour seminar, Amy will share the creative journey behind the project, from developing the initial idea and shaping the visual narrative, through to photographing people, place and rural life with honesty and emotional depth. She’ll explore how her documentary-style approach captures the quiet, often overlooked moments that bring a story to life, and how those images were brought together into a published body of work.

Perfect for photographers interested in storytelling, environmental portraiture, documentary projects and book-making, this talk offers an inspiring insight into the process of creating meaningful photographic work from concept to finished publication.

Building A Street Picture

In this new talk Damien explains how he breaks the world into visual components, and how he uses those ideas and concepts to focus his and the viewer’s attention in the street photography that he creates. Of course decisive moments matter, as do the stories behind each human interaction, but we can’t convey any form of message in our pictures unless people look at them. Surely our first step must be to make sure what we show is eye-catching and exciting. Damien will also be holding a photowalk after the talk driectly from the Wex store.

Don't forget all talks will be held offsite at
