Westerpark Art Exhibition: Two meters ten by Dilruba Tayfun
About this Event
This is the second iteration of an outdoors, open to public, one-day exhibition format Tayfun has developed, as well as her sixth exhibition in Westerpark. The artist perceives the park as the extension of her studio. Curated by Paula Vilageliu, Two meters ten proposes a one-day blooming, where intensity and disappearance coincide within a limited temporal window.
With a ground up approach to painting, Tayfun works with unusual, gathered instruments such as reed stems, tree bark and seagrass “Fuzzballs”, conventional brushes taking on a supporting role. Combined with the emergence of bathing rituals in the studio and diluted color solutions pouring out of a palm vessel - Tayfun’s studio becomes a fluid, imagined ecosystem. An environment where water rituals intersect everything, and sustains this process.
Visitors are invited to navigate the installation inside the ponds through a heightened awareness of movement, depth, orientation and sensory immersion. Situated amidst water lilies and wavering reeds, Two meters ten engages with questions of accessibility, temporality and collective experience, rooted in an embodied experience of water.
The exhibition and all activities throughout the day are completely free. Visitors are welcome to drop in at any point between 14:00 and 19:00, or join the live performance, soundwalk, collective making activity and curators’ tours throughout the afternoon.
