Gallery Intussen is honoured to present Huacas de Lambayeque, one of the most emblematic series by renowned Peruvian photographer Billy Hare.
Created between 1987 and 1988, these photographs have been exhibited in cities including Lima, Munich, Berlin, Ankara, Warsaw and Utrecht. They now arrive in Amsterdam through a hybrid curatorial approach that goes beyond the traditional format of a photographic exhibition.
The exhibition brings together photography, archaeology, historical memory and audiovisual elements, revealing new layers of meaning within images created before the discovery of the tomb of the Lord of Sicán, completed in 1992.
Billy Hare photographed a landscape that already carried its history, although it had not yet revealed it to the world.
Huacas de Lambayeque offers an exceptional opportunity to rediscover the sacred landscape of Lambayeque through art, memory and contemporary archaeological knowledge.
