Whimsy Maker Wednesdays is a creative showcase at Nyxie’s Whimsies, designed to uplift and spotlight local artists and artisans. Each event features a different maker sharing their craft—whether it’s visual art, handmade goods, performance, or storytelling—inviting the community to connect, create, and celebrate the magic of local talent. It’s a cozy, inspiring evening where creativity takes center stage and neighbors become supporters, collaborators, and friends.

Wednesday, November 19th featuring Artist & Illustrator Jamaul Smith.

Jamaul Smith is a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator whose work bridges contemporary digital art with diasporic storytelling. Rooted in his Southwestern heritage and informed by over two decades of creative practice, Smith’s visual language explores the intersections of identity, memory, and devotion through vibrant color, intricate linework, and cultural symbolism.

His recent digital works have been exhibited by the Springfield Community Theater of Massachusetts and featured at The Black Herbalist Convergence in Brooklyn, NY. Smith has served as lead artist and collaborator for a range of creative and cultural brands including Up Against the Wall, Black Notes Project, Urban Community Arginomics (UCAN), A & O Clothing, Deeply Rooted, and Blaq Gurl Moves.

Smith’s latest series of pinup-inspired drawings—conceived initially as A Love Letter to His Wife—fuses sensuality, reverence, and nostalgia into lush compositions that celebrate Black beauty and intimacy. His portfolio also includes illustration work for the children’s books Miya’s Hair Day and Hijabista, along with a companion activity book that extends his storytelling into educational spaces.

A graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Smith continues to expand his artistic reach through partnerships with independent brands such as The Brass Chamber, Rebelmancy, SheHasAudacity, FOCSI, Bougie Luminaries, Sheaux Nof Naturals, and Betty D’Minx. His art remains a study in love, lineage, and liberation—where color and culture converge in rhythm and reverence.
