Join us Friday, March 27th, 2026-- for the Weeki Wachee River Summit at Pasco Hernando State College, Spring Hill Campus, 450 Beverly Court, Spring Hill from 9am to 2pm. Keynote speaker will be Ryan Smart of the Florida Springs Council. The summit is hosted by Sierra Club Adventure Coast Group and features a consortium of stakeholders to communicate present and future conditions of the river and watershed. We’ll share initiatives being implemented to protect, maintain, and restore riverine conditions. Hernando County staff, Southwest Florida Water Management District scientists, IFAS-Florida Sea Grant representatives, and conservationists from Save the Manatee and Adventure Coast Group will provide updates on efforts to improve water quality through watershed nutrient reduction initiatives, implementation of the Weeki Wachee Springs Protection Zone designation, and educational outreach and awareness campaigns.
Conveying this important work to the public and residents of Hernando County is intended to create a shared vision that will garner support, showcase solutions, and ultimately, bring the river back to a sustainable condition that will provide a viable future.
