Reclaiming The Change

Our beliefs and stories about menopause shape our experience of this powerful and sometimes intense time in our lives.

During menopause we are changed, our bodies change, the way we think, our beliefs, our priorities, our relationships….It can be a time of loss, of letting go, of dying to our known self in order to be remade anew.

It is a powerful time to be together, to gather with others, to reflect on the beliefs and stories we carry for these shape our experience of this potentially transformative and potent time.

Weaving Moon Thread asks…

  • What are the stories about menopause we have inherited from our families and our culture?
  • What have we discovered ourselves?
  • What if we were to embrace the initiatory possibility of The Change?
  • How would we mark this time?

Over seven months – between March and September - we will meet to explore these questions together, lovingly held in circle. As our ancestors did, we will gather around the hearth, sifting, sorting, weaving, reweaving and dreaming our stories together. Supporting and celebrating each other through this often unrecognised and uncelebrated rite.

We welcome everyone as they are. With each womans wisdom, knowledge, confusion, struggles, questions and revelations into this sacred space, along with anything else they may bring.
There is a beauty and power that comes from sitting in circle, whether you are a total novice or someone for whom this is a regular practice. It creates feelings of belonging, of support and nourishment. It encourages reflection and insight. And often, when we are deeply heard, what we say can reveal something profound – both to others and to ourselves.

Circle practice supports us on our soul’s journey.

This beautiful roundhouse is where we will be gathering for our time together

Testimonials for this circle

“The gentle, safe and spacious holding of this circle mirrored the gorgeous woodland setting. I arrived feeling disconnected and jangled by the stresses of daily life and left feeling soothed, nourished and centered. “

“It was a beautiful, nourishing and supportive experience- for my body and soul! Another wonderful sharing circle full of honesty and integrity in a magical setting. Highly recommended, such a beautifully held space”

“Another glorious evening filled with spring birdsong and the tender stories of life from a group of amazing women. A magical intimate evening that fills the soul for many days to come . Council invites me to be present, to be authentic, to listen, to be spontaneous, to create, to know myself, my community and my environment. It is a blessing. “

Rooh Star is a curious soul who likes to ask big questions. She has a remembering deep in her bones of a time when humans lived in harmony with the land, her creatures and each other. She is committed to working both practically and energetically to make this remembering real once more. She is a founding member of two off grid, low impact communities in South Devon. Alongside her choice to live a simple off-grid life she has explored many healing modalities as well as training in nursing, religious studies, Shakti Dance, permaculture, sustainable land use, nature connection and more! She has been part of the holding team for many events, including women’s initiatory journeys and Earth Activist Trainings. Rooh is also an occasional singer, songwriter and performer.
Rooh is a director of Stories for Change, who run transformational and support groups rooted in presence, embodiment and improvisation.
She was introduced to the Way of Council by Rob Dreaming in 2006 and has been sitting in and holding circles regularly ever since.
