Course 2: September-November 2026
Monday, September 21, 2026-Monday, November 23, 2026
5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Location: LEC Room
Discovery Park of America is launching Weaving for Wellness, a free educational program designed for youth and adults with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, learning differences and other disabilities.
Made possible through a generous grant from the Juanita H. Fasola Foundation, Inc., this hands-on program combines practical life skills instruction with a creative outlet that supports focus, confidence and emotional wellness.
Participants will learn the basics of textile and fiber arts while developing skills in planning, sequencing, measuring and completing multi-step tasks. Each participant will create a handwoven scarf to take home, gaining both a practical skill and a sense of accomplishment.
Weaving can provide a calming, structured environment while helping participants build patience, concentration, problem-solving skills and independence.
Course 2 Schedule:
Sept. 21, 2026 | 5-7:30 p.m.
Oct. 19, 2026 | 5-7:30 p.m.
Nov. 23, 2026 | 5-7:30 p.m.
Registration
The free program includes four separate three-session courses offered over the next year.
Participants register by course and are expected to attend all three sessions in their selected course.
Space is limited to 10 participants per course. Pre-registration is required, and participants must register for a full three-session course rather than individual classes.
Questions about the program may be directed to Lori Inciong at [email protected].
