About this Event
As we approach the first anniversary of the October 7 massacre, we invite you to join us for a tribute to our loved ones held hostage through poetry, music, and dance. The program will begin with a final opportunity to experience Camille and Anya Davidson’s Stitch Them Home yellow ribbon exhibition, featuring yellow ribbons lovingly hand-stitched by diverse Maine community members in solidarity with the innocent civilians still held hostage in Gaza. The installation is set up “tunnel-style” to symbolize the underground tunnels where many hostages are still held captive, and soft Israeli music will play in the background as visitors are invited to walk through the tunnel and view photos of the hostages. A recitation of Israeli and Israeli-themed poetry (in English and Hebrew, with celebrated Maine poet Anna Wrobel) will follow in our century-old synagogue sanctuary, and we will conclude on a note of hope and joy with music, dancing, and light Israeli-themed refreshments. We will dance again!
