About this Event
Learn the basic function of Computer Aided Design software, and how these tools will allow you to realize your design goals. Tomas Amadeo will cover basic 2D and 3D modeling of parts and assemblies, and will demonstrate good modeling techniques through a series of software tutorials. You may follow along with these demonstrations on your own computer and receive guidance as we walk through the process workflow of creating parts, assemblies, and engineering drawings. No prior software experience is needed. Purchase of CAD software is not required, but you are encouraged to seek out free trials or student discounts to get hands-on experience with these programs. Suggested software includes SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360, and Onshape. Demonstrations will be in Fusion 360.
Tomas has bachelor and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, where he studied medical robotics and soft robotic technologies. He has worked as a design engineer for three years with two companies in the electronics and industrial sector. Tomas has also taught CAD and fundamentals of design for robotics teams in New Hampshire, and worked as a teaching assistant at Boston University for classes in medical robotics and engineering computation.
