Based on themes from her new book, We the Voters: The Constitutional Choices That Shape America’s Elections, Ringhand will explore the history and structure of the American electoral system, including the Electoral College, voting rules, representation, and the role of courts in election disputes. In accessible and engaging language, she examines why so many debates about democracy remain deeply contested — and how the Constitution leaves important questions about self-government in the hands of the American people themselves.

Ringhand is a professor at the University of Georgia School of Law, where she teaches constitutional law and election law, and is widely known for her scholarship on the Supreme Court and constitutional change. As a UW–Eau Claire graduate, her return to campus offers a unique opportunity for students and community members to engage directly with one of the nation’s leading constitutional scholars on questions that continue to shape American public life.
