We Met at the Bookshop: Literary Speed Dating

We Met at the Bookshop is a literary speed-dating evening for people who like reading, conversation, and being around others who do the same.

This first edition takes place at Trident Booksellers & Cafe, with 24 attendees moving through a series of short, one-on-one conversations.

Each interaction begins with three literary-informed prompts. Choose one together, then follow where it leads: into a book, a character, a scene, a memory, or some point of recognition that may have otherwise taken much longer to arrive at.

There is no assigned reading and nothing to bring. The structure is there to move around the usual scripts of meeting and give the conversation a more engaging flair.

For this preliminary event, the room will be arranged with 12 women looking to meet men, and 12 men looking to meet women. The intention is for future editions to open into additional formats, including queer, mixed, and friendship-focused evenings.

At the end of the night, you’ll have the option to indicate who you would be open to hearing from again. Contact information will only be shared where there is mutual interest.

Each ticket includes entry and one drink.
