We Met at Community Service series kickoff

We Met in Miami is teaming up with Miami Sound Space, a community choir collective, for this engaging, interactive mixer to celebrate our current volunteers and recruit new ones.

Join us on Sunday, Nov. 3, at Sapori Miami by Café Crème for icebreakers, a group singing activity, and facilitated conversations with other adults 21+ who are seeking love, friendship and community.

Experience the joy and relaxation of singing in a group (don’t worry … you won’t have to sing solo!), and connect with others who share your interests and values. You’ll also learn more about our organizations’ missions to enrich the community with the healing power of connection and music — and how you can get involved.

You’ll be wearing We Met in Miami’s signature wristbands, which show others what you are looking for: green for love, blue for friendship, and rainbow for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. (Yes, you can wear more than one!)

Volunteer opportunities include supporting We Met in Miami and Miami Sound Space during live events, concerts and rehearsals.

We are also looking for help with a wide array of other needs, including photography, videography, social media content creation, marketing, public relations, grant writing, legal services, accounting and tax preparation services.

No volunteer commitment is required! Come curious, and consider how you could use your unique skills and talents to make Miami a better place, meeting new people along the way.

Here's what to expect:

3pm Check in, choose your wristbands and make your name tags. Grab a refreshment. Start mingling with other current and prospective volunteers.

3:30pm Break the ice with an interactive physical warm up exercise.

3:40pm Blend your voice with others during a musical meditation inspired by Threshold Singers, a small group that offers comfort and peace at patients' bedsides and during end-of-life services.

4pm Learn to sing Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” in harmony during a singalong with members of Miami Sound Choir, an adult community choral ensemble.

4:30pm Build deeper, more meaningful connections through facilitated small-group conversations about the problems we are working to solve in Miami and how you can get involved.

5:30pm Mix, mingle and build community!

Food and beverage: Free lemonade and fruit punch will be provided, while supplies last. Sapori Miami by Café Crème, located in the heart of North Miami, offers a wide selection of coffees, teas, juices, wine, beer, cocktails, bakery items and Italian specialties available for purchase. About : Miami Sound Space is a community choir collective dedicated to creating unforgettable musical experiences for all in Miami. Currently, there are three programs: Miami Sound Choir, a non-audition, all-inclusive adult community choir; the Bluebirds, a men’s choir of incarcerated singers at Everglades Correctional Institution; and Threshold Singers, a small group of gentle voices singing at patients' bedsides and providing solace in various end-of-life services.
