WE Bike Bicycle Sundays in Westchester
About this Event
Bicycle Sundays is a longstanding tradition in Westchester County where a 6.5-mile stretch of the historic Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars and opened to cyclists and pedestrians! WE will meet in the Bronx, just inside the entrance to Van Cortlandt Park, at Broadway & 242nd St. (near the 1 train station) at 9am (wheels down at 9:15am). We’ll take the Old Putnam Trail to the South County Trail, then connect to the Bronx River Trail via about a mile on Palmer Rd., a midsize suburban road. Then we will join the Bicycle Sundays route at the Bronx River Parkway on ramp in Crestwood. The whole ride will be about 30 miles, but there are Metro North stations at both ends of the Bicycle Sundays route so you are welcome to take MTR back to the city if you wish. There is one big hill to climb on the return to the city, but you can walk it if you’d like.
