WaveStrong : Water, Wellness, & You!
About this Event
WaveStrong! Water, Wellness, & You! Aquatic Aerobics after Breast Cancer.
Join us again in August for our Fall 4- Week Series - WaveStrongh, An aquatic range of motion where we will spend 45 minutes of movement in a therapy pool (93-95 degrees). This exercise will improve strength, flexibility and balance while moving every joint of the body.
This low-to-moderate intensity aerobic exercise focuses on all muscle groups and joints of the body. This is especially helpful after breast cancer if you are experiencing range of motion issues or fatigue but want to get back into exercise. You will need a swimsuit, towel and water bottle. If you have any open wounds, bowel or bladder incontinence issues, please contact Summer at 205-226-0020 before signing up for the class.
WaveStrong Aquatic Aerobics will meet in-person weekly on Thursdays in August from 9:30am - 10:15am at Lakeshore Foundation, August 6th through August 27th (a 4 -week series). Aquatic Aerobics after Breast Cancer will be a fun experince for all!

From our Expert:
Hello to everyone!
My name is Emily Mallard and I have had the pleasure of working at Lakeshore for over 15 years.
My love for the water started very early and has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.I graduated from Samford University with a degree in Exercise Science and began working at Lakeshore as a lifeguard while I was in school. Since then I have worked as an Aquatics Specialist, Aquatics Coordinator, and now Director.
I have completed a number of aquatic certifications truly believe in the power of the water. Pain relief, strength building, self confidence, and community just to name a few.
My favorite thing about the pool is that it puts everyone on an even playing field. Individuals with varying needs can all participate in the same program and enjoy time together free of judgment and/or barriers.
I am so excited to welcome you all back to Lakeshore soon!
-Emily
